Some of my favourite shots:
For this assignment we had to make a portrait of ourselves using words only to make out our picture. I used photobooth to take a photo of myself then opened it in photoshop and used the application to make the portrait we could use any lettering we wanted but i decided to use only my name throughout the image. I think this worked well as it persoalised the image somewhat aswell as adding fluidity to the image as it all looked similar. I tried not to use many lines in the image but to use as muc shading as ossible which i think worked well and resembles me more than i expected it to. I used different sized lettering and different colour lettering to portray shading and the different features in the image.
we also had to make a quick hand drawn sketch of ourselves which i struggled with as my art is in no way shape or form good by any standards. however the idea behind it was not to be a good artist but to interpret the lines of our features and put them on paper to show that we understood the way our face is constructed and put it in a simple form which i think came out kind of okay in the end!
I finally completed my semiotics assignment! I chose Bill Gates head of microsoft as my celebrity although not a famous actor or lead singer of a band I believe him to be a household name and famous for being the richest man in the world for a long time. I chose to illustrate Mr. Gates in three ways: masculine, evil and feminine.
Masculine
: I represented Bill as masculine using many of the stereotypical masculine traits. He is pictured her using firstly the gym background ( a very stereotypical masculine trait) I also included many other masculine feats such as cans of beer in the foreground a shovel and he is smoking a cigarette as he weight lifts a midget giving an overall very masculine feel to the image as everything he is doing screams masculine. Even though i chose to include humour by having him weightlifting a midget it still also strongly emphasizes his masculinity as he is the bigger man in the fact that he is actually able to use him as the weight showing his dominance in the image
Evil:
I used many sterotypical evil feats in my evil portrait to represent Bill in an evil way. I used a fire background to give the feeling of hell on top of a black background I feel this gave the image an omninous feel to begin with, i then googled devils body to get the image to use as his body also the body is coming up out of smoke which again gives a feeling of fear as he seems to be appearing from this. I then put his head on the body and tinted the colour of his face to match the body more and give hma a more evil look to finish off the effect
Feminine:
I gave Bill a very feminine feel in this image first of all i used a my little pony background which is very girly. i also put him in a wedding dress as it is a stereotypical feminine trait that is every girls dream to have the perfect wedding dress. I included a dream bubble where he is dreaming of make up and also included lots of handbags as it also enhances the feminie theme of the image
Overall i enjoyed this assignment it was my first time using the photoshop programme so it took me a while to get used to it and was a slow start but by the end of the assignment i felt much more comfortable and confident with using it
I was still sick this week so couldn’t get much done and unfortunately ended up having to hand in the assignment late but I at least finally got the hang of photoshop and finally became much more familiar with its userface and as a result am now far more confident in using the prgramme
